Proteawell Founder & CEO
Hi, I am Joanie, the driven owner and founder of Proteawell. I am interested in wellness (making choices to promote health), philosophy (approach to life and decision-making), and art (creativity and expression), and how they contribute towards health, which I will explore in my role as a lifestyle, health, and wellness education. I am the Author of the book, "The Uncared Self, My Self-Care Journey: The Things I Wish I Knew, and the Workbook, The Uncared Self, My Self-Care Journey: Workbook.
Professional Experience: I have a master's degree in Nursing Education. I spent four years in a PhD program focusing on social identity threat and healthcare experiences based on phenotypes (e.g., skin tone differences), with a qualitative research emphasis (phenomenology).
Clinical Experience: I have more than three years of academic teaching experience teaching undergraduate nursing students and other healthcare career courses, and more than ten years of clinical (nephrology, intermediate care, trauma, and telemetry) nursing experience. I am a certified yoga instructor and have completed additional training in restorative yoga. I recently became a kidney health coach.
Summary: My professional experiences have allowed me to work closely with many healthcare recipients (patients) and healthcare professionals, and I look forward to being a part of your wellness journey.
MISSION
Together, we break cycles of "negative" health patterns to learn how to live a fulfilling life. During our one-on-one and/or group coaching, consulting, and education services ( sessions, workshops, or keynote speaking events, we share holistic lifestyle, health, and wellness modification practices with our community members to provide consulting and education services. We aim to partner with educational institutions, community organizations, healthcare facilities, and other relevant organizations to provide self-care education to individuals interested in enhancing their well-being.
VISION
Proteawell strives to be an instrumental part of our communities' healing by sharing the power of preventive care (e.g., stress and weight through lifestyle modification) to reduce the risk of chronic diseases (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, and chronic kidney disease) often caused by stress, poor nutrition, and lack of exercise. By connecting, inspiring, and empowering members of our communities, we build resilience to combat adversity.
