The Uncared Self, My Self-Care Journey

Dear Proteas,

 

  • I have been spending this time practicing what I wrote in my book titled “The Uncared Self, My Self-Care Journey: The Things I Wish I Knew.”

  • I have been running (3-5 miles) at least 3 times a week and walking on the days I am not running. I am listening to my body.

  • I have been drinking more water. My goal is to drink at least 2 Liters of water.

  • I have been eating better. I avoid foods high in carbohydrates (e.g., bread, rice, pasta), sodium, and saturated fats.

  • I am no longer smoking cigarettes.

  • I drink less alcohol.

  • I am scrolling through social media less.

  • I sleep at least 7 hours at night.


About social media: There are pros and cons to using social media. I am finding that scrolling through social media to view exercise routines, meal preparation, places to visit, and tips on being organized can be a positive experience. What I avoid are negative messages about the mind and body.
